There's a Moth in our Midst

Insects have fascinated me since 5th grade. We were assigned to do some bug collecting. Label them with the proper name and include the scientific name of five of them. I must say my partner and I had a fabulous A+ bug collection. My favorite insect since then has been the sphinx moth. They are a rather large moth and sometimes get mistaken for hummingbirds. I saw one on the sidewalk the other day and got really excited. I don't see them very often and when I do, I consider it a special treat. I took some pictures with my phone, but since it's not smart (and I don't have the proper cord) I can't upload the actual one I took, but here's a link to a replacement!

  1. :) I also had a sphinx moth in my high school collection (we weren't allowed to work in partners). I found it in my grandmother's flower bed at night. I'm pretty sure they are nocturnal. In addition, I had a perfectly preserved cicada and a giant water bug.
